International Postsecondary Development Program

Our History

The International Postsecondary Development Program (IPDP) was born in 2004 in response to opportunities for cooperation and collaboration with universities in Montenegro and Brazil. In 2005 a project began with Sierra Leone to design a community college system, a parternship which is continuing.

IPDP was affiliated with the Higher Education Program at George Mason until 2006 when it became a separate entity. Also in 2006 an advisory board was established and a cadre of consultants was developed for work in two and four-year institutions around the world. Gail Kettlewell, former director of the Higher Education Program, is now the full-time research professor and director of the IPDP.
